CESAB History - Carrellificio Emiliano S.p.A. Bologna
CESAB SpA was founded in 1942 in Bologna by the Maccaferri family. At first the company produced components for railways and conveyor technology. In 1951, CESAB developed the first electric forklift. Their first contracted sales person was Mario Marabini. In 1953, the CESAB contract was handed down to the next generation of the Marabini brothers, which set up the company in Bergamo, where it has been located until today. In 1954, the diesel forklift was produced, along with the first high pickers and tractors, which were produced in the 1960s. The 1970s were characterised by further developments including electronic steering for the electric forklift, the first off-road forklift and the new reach truck. When CESAB GmbH was founded in Germany in 1982, they were able to expand across Europe. This was initiated through the development of CESAB's heavy duty electric forklift and their storage forklift range. Further branches in Great Britain and France followed. The Blitz and Drago models were introduced and immediately given awards. In 2000, CESAB became part of the Toyota IndustriesGroup and was made stronger through their acquisition of LTE, a manufacturer of lifting equipment.
Areas of operation
In addition to the development and production of forklifts with various engines, CESAB also produces storage technology.
