The company has been in existence since the mid-nineteenth century and has a long-standing reputation for producing tools of the highest quality. Founded in 1862 by Eduard Wille, STAHLWILLE initially manufactured forged steel tools. As the twentieth century dawned, the company product portfolio was already quite extensive, including specialist tools for engineering, metalworking and ship building.

Employing approximately 600 people, STAHLWILLE now boasts three separate production facilities, all based in Germany. Through an extensive network of wholly-owned subsidiaries, the STAHLWILLE GROUP exports its range of hand and special purpose tools to more than 90 countries around the world. Over the years, STAHLWILLE has fostered close relationships with leading research centres and universities from around the world, giving the company a unique insight into advanced machining technologies and production processes.

In 1990, STAHLWILLE became one of the first companies anywhere to receive EN ISO 9002 accreditation. Two years later, the STAHLWILLE Quality Assurance System was certified as DIN EN ISO 9001.
